February 9, 2099 -- Weekly Update ***Unclassified***
The elves paid us a visit and while I've heard a few of you suggest that Gimili had the proper measure of an elf, I for one am glad they did. We did at least learn a few things specifically:
- This whole disasters and monster's thing is apparently just the sort of thing that happens. Apparently the universe is not as friendly a place as we thought.
- An awful lot of all this is apparently "magic," the elves seem very serious about that.
- Elves are really good at archery, I think everyone who tried to match them went away disappointed.
- They're also good at magic, good enough to disappear in a puff of smoke when they left, but not good enough to provide much in the way of direct help.
We also have received word of a group of congressional survivors arriving at NEMA HQ including House Majority Leader Alexander Gagnon. We also seem to have both Republican whips, the chair of the Republican Conference and a few committee chairs. Unfortunately Senator Julia Castillo who some of you may remember from her inspection tours is not among the legislators that have been reported at any shelter or base.
